I Just Can't Take It Anymore

Poor Joanna is definitely teething this week - runny nose, cranky, gnawing on everything, an insane amount of drool, rough nap time, and an all around grumpy butt. :) She was fighting her nap time this afternoon and she finally fell asleep a bit ago and I couldn't help taking this picture of the Princess.

Part of me just wants to pick her up and rock her even though she is already asleep and the other part of me is like "back away s-l-o-w-l-y, don't make any sudden moves or noises". I've gotten pretty good at being stealthy with having two kids.

"I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD,
only makest me dwell in safety."

Joanna's Dedication

Sunday was Baby Dedication Day at Church!
The princess before we went into the church for a time of prayer.
I am thankful to say that Joanna did great! She didn't spit up (Thank the Lord!) and she didn't fuss!
"Wall to Wall Babies"
After church was over we invited our family over for a meal. I had originally thought to do something simple like hot dogs but that would have meant Michael would have had to grill as soon as we got back from church... in the heat... so I changed my mind. :) I thought everyone would appreciate a nice meal too so I got up early and had things in the oven and crock pot and only had minimal work to do once I got home.

Apparently, some people really wanted hot dogs though. That is ALL I heard for the first thirty minutes, "I thought we were having hot dogs?". Next time I will send out an "I changed my mind" memo! I don't think they minded all that much after they got over the shock of not having hot dogs.

Joanna's guest list included her Grandparents, Great-Grandparents, God-parents, and her Aunt Becky and cousins. Uncle Doug and Aunt Carrie weren't able to make it this time. We had such a nice time with family, it was fun to mark Joanna's day with a family celebration!

(I love having a backyard with a play set for the kids! They played out there almost the whole time while the adults relaxed in the a/c.)

The Writing Airplane

One day last week after finishing school with Josiah, I sent him outside to play while I tackled a few chores. After a few minutes Josiah came looking for me and found me refreshing the water in the bird bath. He was so excited he could hardly contain himself. He said "Mommy! You have GOT to come see this! It's AMAZING!"

He was so excited about whatever it was that when I walked back through the house to the backyard I grabbed my camera. He grabbed my hand and told me to hurry. What he saw was an airplane writing in the sky.

We stayed out there together watching the airplane fly around. Josiah kept saying "It's AMAZING!" I'm not sure what he enjoyed more- the airplane flying in circles or trying to figure out what he was writing.
 U + GOD = :)
I enjoyed time with my boy as he tried to figure out the different letters although from our direction they were backward. The wind was blowing pretty hard that day so the letters didn't stay formed very long.

The next line was 'Jesus Loves You'. I asked Josiah what the letters were when he got to the 'J' he said "It's a Josiah letter!" In other words its the first letter in his name. He just makes me smile with some of the things that he says!
So thanks to the airplane we enjoyed having school twice that day. :)
I love the teachable moments that just "happen".

Grand Opening

A couple weekends ago Papa John's had their grand opening with tons of FREE stuff that we thought Josiah would enjoy. He got to meet a police dog and he wasn't even scared of him! This was shocking to us because this dog was big. With just a simple word the dog became the most gentlest creature and Josiah had no fear walking away from Michael to go pet him.
What we really thought Jman would love was getting to explore a fire truck. He REFUSED to look inside the cab. It was crazy, he wouldn't go near the truck. BUT this awesome EMT spent some time with J and got him to use the fire extinguisher. He loved doing it! I was so impressed that this guy got on a 3yo level enough to make him comfortable.
J wanted to see the pizza guy so bad until he saw the pizza guy. lol
He walked away with lots of loot and we all enjoyed free pizza and drinks. Michael then treated us to some DQ! Yummy yummy!
I love free family activities! :)
